Keith Olbermann and MSNBC: The Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate Points at YOU (Hate Speech/Lynch Lieberman/Salem Witch Trial Edition)

advertisement

The Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate spins madly, and then stops every week pointing at a conspicuous example of stupidity/evil in the previous week. This week Then Finger--represented by a statuette of a pointing INDEX finger, came to rest pointing steadily at Keith Olbermann and MSNBC (NOT a "news" network, but a propaganda outlet for the Obama Administration).

Yes, it is once again time to award The Finger to deserving recipients, being my unauthorized reincarnation of the old "Laugh In" TV show feature--where The Finger was usually presented by Dick Martin, who I suggest you use as a visual aid to properly visualize the ceremony below. As was true of Nancy Pelosi (last week's recipient, and deserving of the award this week again, as usual), Keith Olbermann and MSNBC would be recipients of this award every week, had not the panel of judges decided to disqualify them from further consideration, to give others a chance at the coveted/dreaded Finger. However, I have not watched Keith Olbermann or MSNBC in a long time. I relaxed that policy (regretting it bitterly) for purposes of getting a feeling as to how the recent election was being reported. I honestly don't see how anyone can stand to watch this obvious propaganda. Wait. NO ONE DOES. But since I went through the pain of watching this heavy handed propaganda, Keith Olbermann and MSNBC wre made once again eligible, for one week only, for The Finger. It is no surprise to see The Finger respond with absolute enthusiasm, pointing more strongly at Olmbermann and MSNBC than almost any other previous "winner". I actually heard this stuff in my very limited, open mouthed exposure to MSNBC the previous week.

Yes, MSNBC was the most biased "reporter" of Tuesday's election (in a close contest with CNN, which seemed to regard the vote on homosexual marriage in Maine as the most important vote of the week). But that was not enough to win The Finger for Olbermann and MSNBC. Nope. That special award was earned by the utterly disgraceful reporting of MSNBC on health care.

You will remember that two things happened last week on health car, before the sham (bought and paid for with bribes and extortion) House vote on Saturday. First, Republicans came out with their 230 page bill that a person could actually understand--even if not agree with--and Joe Lieberman announced he would support a filibuster of the "public option" in the Senate.

What did MSNBC and Keith Olbermann do on the Republican bill? Did they simply report on what the bill said, and perhaps get points of view about why it was good or bad? Not on your life. This is the Obama Network. What Olbermann did was RIDICULTE the Republican bill provisions. That is what MSNBC clearly regards as its function. Forget "death panels". The ridicule of Olbermann, and MSNBC, of the Republican bill was totally "over-the-top stuff. Republicans were, in effect, called uncaring criminals putting out a bill to help the insurance companies, while ignoring all of that "health stuff" (Olbermann quote).

Can the Democratic House bill be RIDICULED. Darn right it can. 2000 pages!!!!!!!!!!!! Say what you want about the Republican bill, and I will criticize it in later articles, you can at least read and understand it. That is IMPOSSIBLE with the House Democratic bill. You don't even have to state vicious conclusions about the House bill. All you have to do is START READING the bill. That is real RIDICULE> No one one Earth could understand such a mess of gobbledygook. It is no surprise that MSNBC has not even tried to explain what the bill actually says, and how it intends to accomplish what it says it will accomplish. Then there is that "competition" of government with private insurance--an OXYMORONIC absurdity. How can you talk about "competition between a monopoly (Federal Government) that fully intends to LOSE money, and private businesses who have to MAKE money (or go out of business)!!!! It is INSANE (I totally stand by this word) to suggest that there can be any such thing as "competition", where a government entity is CREATED to set arbitrary, artificial pricing for a product intended to lose money. The only place you can see real competition between government and private industry is when the government is not willing to infinitely subsidize its product (post office, Medicare Advantage, until this bill, etc.). Where the government is infinitely willing to subsidize its product (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, school, etc.), there is no "competition". There can't be, when government plays by entirely different rules. Then there is that provision that Pelosi proudly announced that "children" would now be "covered" by their their parents' health insurance until ag 27. I am 62, but my mother is still alive. I fully expect that eventually there will be a provision that a person like me can be covered by our lparents' MEDICARE policy. To mention "children", and age 27, in the same breath is so absurd I can't even get my mind around it. I could go on.

But even the total propaganda of MSNBC on the respective health care legislaton was not enough to win Olbermann and MSNBC The Finger. No,k that took the figurative LYNCHING of Joe Lieberman (at the same time MSNBC was criticizing the "purge" of Republican "moderates" --liberals--by conservatives), along with the SALEM WITHC TRIALS. What do the Salem witch trials have to do with health care? Don't ask me. Ask Keith Olbaermann.

I head this, and I still dont' believe it. It was HATE SPEECH by an evil man who cares nothing about whether what he says makes sense, . I would go so far as to say it was the product of a diseased mind. Olbermann said that the Republican health care bill was brought to you by the same people--type of people?--who brought you the Salem witch trials, The Scarlet Letter, and who were responsible for Bedlam". How can you defend something like that? You can't. It doesn't even make sense. It is just the ravings of an evil man foaming at the mouth, who cares nothing for reason in any form.

I am nott through. What was Joe LIeberman's CRIME, that caused that (figurative) LYNCHING by MSNBC--again, almost foaming at the mouth stuff? Lieberman said he opposed the public option on health care, and would join a Republican filibuster. Note that Lieberman did not say he opposed what OBAMA said he would accept--the original Baucus health care proposal in the Senate Finance Committee, without a "public option". Lieberman just said that, as a matter of conscience, the "public option" went to far for him. What was Olbermann's mad dog reaction to this HERESY (real analogy to the Inquisition and Salem witch trials)? Olbermannn said that he would sacrifice, even though a Yankee's fan, if Lieberman would only quit the Seante and join the New York Yankees (reference being to a Lieberman joke). Yes, Olbermann was serious. For him, Lieberman had no business being in the Senate, even though a leftist tlype "moderate", because Lieberman prefers to act on his conscience instead of Olbermann's.

Some of you may doubt taht Olbermann is an EVIL man. Don't. He is a hate filled, bitter man who consistently engages in HATE SPEECH of a most virulent kind. "Mr. Bush, you are a fascist" was an Olbermann line. But the conclusive point for me came when Olbermann tried to LYNCH Dick Cheney for an ACCIDENTAL hunting accident, to the point of deliberately distorting Texas law. I was a Texas attorneys for more than 30 years, and I have never seen a person deliberately try to distort Texas law--for agenda purposes--the way Olbermann tried to do so. Olbermann insisted that Texas law required a CRIMINAL investigation of Cheney, and that the matter be presented to the grand jury. Mr. Olbermann: YOU ARE A LIAR>

Let me illustrate. In El Paso, an aunt recently ran over her small child--backed over the child--KILLING the child. In due course, it was announced that NO CHARGES WOULD BE FILED. What kind of a monster do you have to be to suggest that such a case MUST be presented to a grand jury. Well, Keith Olbermann is just such a MONSTER, so long as it fits his political agenda. The same decision was recently announced in Elp Paso on two small children who drowned in standing water, after wandering away from their parents and other relatives. Believe it or not, Mir. Olbermann, and I know you don't really care, Texas does not automatically PERSECUTE people for accidents--even fatal accidents. Yet, Olbarmann tried to sgguest that Exas law REQUIRED that a non-fatal shooting accident go to a grand jury. MR. OLBERMANN, YOU ARE AN EVIL LIAR. (And don't even talk to me about Olbermann bringing in a Democratic/leftist activist as a SHILL Texas attorney to try to bolster Olbermann's agenda; which was merely part of the LIE and DISHONESTY involved here--yes, part of the EVIL. It is on par with using Watergate crminal John Dean as an "expert" on everything from "ethics"--lol==to national security matters.)

Award ceremony (virtual cermoney held entirely in the imagination--no video or graphics, with Dick Martin merely being used as a suggested visual aid to your own imagination, without implying that he would have endorsed this award):

Imagine Dick Martin THRUSTING the statuette of The Finger (pointing index finger) at the camera and saying: Keith Olbermann and MSNBC, his is for YOU. You DESERVE it for HATE SPEECH above and beyond the call of partisan duty. ."

P.S. I got another one of those complaining messages fro Dick Martin, and again I did not investigate FROM WHERE this message was sent. I merely report it, without fuirther comment: "Skip, I have told you to stop associating my name fwith your revival of this award. I know you keep saying it is only a visual aid, but there is only so much I can take. I know The vicious Keith Olbermann can defend himself. I won't. But now you have associated me with the SALEM WITCH TRIALS--my nae, anyway. I am again warning you: Stop using my name in any way, or I will TAKE STEPS." (Editor's note: Those two last words do sound ominous, Skip.)

P.S. 2: Is Nancy Pelosi a witch--not of the benign "Bewitched" or "harry Potter" kind, but of the evil, Biblical kind? Yes, this is total speculation, although it would explain a lot. However, should it be INVESTIGATED and presented to a grand jury/D.A. to evaluage? I can se Keith Olbermann, filled with HATE as he is, calling Dick Cheney a witch/warlock, and asking for an "investigation". Since I like to thihk I am better than Olbermann (very low bar, I admit), I will refrain from callling for an investigation as to whether Pelosi is a witch.

At least, a bill is supposed to be long, but for a person that is complaining about too many words that can not be understood, he goes and publishes this article that is too long, and makes absolutely no sense. Are you sure you was not the author of the same bill you seem to be criticizing?

btw, I am referring to the author, but since you also read it I posted my comment as a reply.

I'm not an attorney, not even a high school graduated, but a I am permitted by the USA laws to my opinion as you are at yours. Is kind of amazing to corroborated that hate is the drive of your article, and according to you, hate is what your against. Mention crime and calling names, you really attempt to defend Dick Cheney, so therefore all he represent: A war with no motive but greed, thousand of American lives lost with no valid reason but D."so" C. and Co. Greed, greed, greed, abusing, torture Innocent people for being Muslims, claiming no to belong to the executive power nor the legislative, but claiming executive privilege, promoting cover up all along and attacking what he condemn when it was convenient. OUR President is in war time, so now it's not a treason going public and try to awaken him and attack all he does?. Regarding Olberman, he is just the opposite and recent reflection of the Fox hunter dogs(with out actually shooting people on the face), to be fair do you condemn the other side too?, or only the opposition to your ideology. Your posting has more to do with promoting hate and defending the indefensible than health care reform.

Instead of trying, and I empahsize TRYING, to act like that wasn't funny, why don't you just admit that it was?

Second, who exactly is a 'crying liberal' in the comment you posted on? Proudindependent said this about Olbermann:

Regarding Olberman, he is just the opposite and recent reflection of the Fox hunter dogs

How exactly is that a 'crying liberal' again?

For my part, I have on numerous Vine occasions, stated matter of factly that I don't see much difference between Olbermann and the FNC talking heads. In fact, on this particular thread, my first comment was that MSNBC was biased.

Third, MSNBC's profits went up 23% in 2008 and Olbermann is their flagship program. He didn't run his 'company' into the ground, he helped improved it's profitability greatly. I would think good business strategy would be to keep the individuals responsible for the rise in profitability, wouldn't you? Or do you believe profitability companies shouldn't give raises to the individuals who make them profitable?

http://www.businessinsider.com/turning-left-pays-off-for-msnbc-nbc-news-2009-3

Fourth, your last statement can easily be amended:

"And you conservatives do nothing but cry about the 'Mainstream Media' and how bias it is. Now FOX News has been called by the White House and you have your panties in a bunch!!! Hypocrites!!!!"

As I said earlier....Straw man.....fail.

Keith Olbermann facts: That is a true oxymoron for you. As I said, he twisted Texas law into a pretzel--deliberately-just to try to "get" Dick Cheney. Exactly what do "facts" have to do with comparing Repubican supporters of the Republican health care bill to the Salem witch trials, The Scarlet Letter (I assume Hawthorne's novel) or Bedlam (closest to some kind of point, although still nothing but hate speech)? For Olbermann, "facts" are only someting to TWIST for his own purposes.

Great, you've recognized that MSBNC is biased.

Now, if we could just get you to quit saying things like this -

You know (Glenn) Beck is accurate, because the left has NOT been able to discredit him.

- We may actually be able to consider you informed ;)

I would have to seriously question the credibility and reasoning skills of anyone who would claim that Glenn Beck is their hero.....regardless of the rationalization behind it.

Oh, and I did NOT "defend" Dick Cheney over the war in Iraq. What I have said is that the next person facing charges, or even a serious crimininal investigation, in Texas for an accidental, non-fatal hunting accident (or any accident not involving GFOSS negligence) will be the FIRST. And I will debate any Texas attorney, anywhere, any time, on that point. Think of how EVIL a person you are if you think Dick Cheney shou.d face charges in Texas because of Iraq, and NOT because of what he did in an accient. If you are a wife whose husbad is showing her how to handle a gun, and the gun goes off--injuraing your husband---and those facts are uncontradicted, do you expect to be presented to the GRAND JURY? I stand by waht I have said. Keith Olbermann is an EVIL person, because he advocated USING the criminal law to advance a POLITICAL agenda. That is an evil thing. I have the same position regarding the person commenting above.

As I say, I was not defending Dick Cheney on Iraq. There are perfectly defensible reasons for saying that Dick Cheney did not do/advocate the right things on Iraq. However, I will say that you are a KOOK--letting your hate overrfide your brain--if lyou thingk Dick Cheney's support of the invasion of Iraq was a matter of personal GREED (Halliburton). Kooks are kooks, and I label them as such. What I label the people (lots of them) who don't believe this at all, but simply encourage real kooks/dupes to believe it, is EVIL. By the way, Texas law on accidents, and how that law is applied, is NOT a "matter of opinion", and you have NO RIGHT to an opinion on the subject unless you have knowledge of how Texas law actually works. It is actually SLANDER of Texas that we are st tough on crime that we turn ACCIDENTS into criminal events, as a matter of routine. We don't.

Keith Olbermann is so jealous of FOX. He spends more time bashing people at FOX than anyone im aware of. He gets beat in the ratings on a regular basis. MSNBC needs to get rid of this guy. The other a day a suicide bomber killed many people but Beck or Oreilly at FOX are still considered the WORST person of the day. He wll be fired soon. He has lost so many jobs at other networks. Olbermann will never have a Republican on his show cause he is a coward to debate the issues with a live person. A total coward.

Jimmy men: Get over your blindness, there is not enough time to clarify the confusion and lies spread by Fox, directed exact to people like you, Keith the coward according to you, is the only one that try to clarify, only clarify the dark cloud of misreporting from Fox. Not a fan of Olberman, only listen to both sides and try to be BALANCED.

Maybe he doesn't want to occupy the same space with people the he already know what their opinions are, and especially with people as deplorable as Rush, and the rest of the hatemongers. I never met a republican that did not like a war, but I heard of many that refused to fight the same wars that they themselves were strongly supporting.

Then there is that "competition" of government with private insurance--an OXYMORONIC absurdity. How can you talk about "competition between a monopoly (Federal Government) that fully intends to LOSE money, and private businesses who have to MAKE money (or go out of business)!!!! It is INSANE (I totally stand by this word) to suggest that there can be any such thing as "competition", where a government entity is CREATED to set arbitrary, artificial pricing for a product intended to lose money

In my opinion, what's INSANE is to even fathom a third party, private for-profit entity getting filthy rich off healthcare without ever actually providing a shred of healthcare.

What's also insane is creating and supporting a system in which private entities take bets on the overhead profits of hospitals and health insurance companies. That's INSANE, as you put it.

Private for-profit principles, as long as they are involved in healthcare, will always ruin the 'product'. Profit is about marketing and cutting corners financially; it's about finding that balance between spending as little as possible to make as much as possible. This concept is an absolutely asinine approach in terms of healthcare. It's INSANE.

You need to read Adam Smith's "The Wealth of Nations" before you make these comments. There is more to private competition than just "cutting corners". You must also provide a product that people want to buy at a price they are willing to pay. That is how you get balance in the system. Yes, marketing and cost control are part of the equation, but in the end if the service or product is not adequate the entity will fail.

      Marc

First, I have read 'The Wealth of Nations'......so you need to stop assuming before making these comments ;)

I don't disagree with your general point, especially when it is applied to non-essential goods and services. However, I profoundly disagree when it is applied to healthcare.

Supply and demand principles are compromised when demand will remain constant, regardless of quality or price. That's what healthcare has become; a necessity. Thus, regardless of how ridiculous prices are or how shoddy coverage can be, people will still pay because they must.

You said: "You must also provide a product that people want to buy at a price that they are willing to pay"

There in lies the problem; healthcare is not something that people WANT to buy, it's something that they HAVE to buy (granted they value life). Thus, their willingness to pay a certain price is thrown right out the window and replaced by their NECESSITY to pay ANY price.

No aspect of healthcare should be for-profit....period. As I said, providers need to paid well. They deserve it. However, under no circumstances should third party individuals be lining their pockets by taking bets on people's health without actually providing any service whatsoever. That's sickening.

Every other industrialized nation in the world has figured this out........we won't recognize our error until all of those countries are looking back over their shoulder at us....(in terms of healthcare cost and performance, most of them already are)

The United States has the best health care in the world. People come here from other countries to get the best health care. And why? Because of the free market that you so easily throw away. By the way, demand for health care does change when it costs less. It may not change for those with serious diseases, but people with relatively minor illnesses will go to the doctor more if they pay little or nothing. And unless you have a plan to grow the population of healh care providers any plan that encourages unlimited trips to the doctor will cause severe problems for any system-government run or not.

While I understand the utopian view that a person's health should not be measured in dollars and cents, the inescapable fact remains that any industry, including health care has limited resources, which must be allocated some how. The question is do we allow this rationing to be decided by the few or by the free market? The free market, in the long run, will always out perform centrally planned systems because it is self regulating. When a wrong path is taken the market punishes those that take that path. Centrally planned systems do not have that self regulating mechanism and will some day choose the wrong path and follow it too doom.

One big reason the cost in our country is higher than other countries is because the United States subsidizes other countries. For example, pharmaceutical companies charge more for prescription drugs in the United States than the rest of the world. Why, because most of the wealth in the world is here. I don't think the solution to that problem is to destroy our system so we can be poorer and stop subsidizing the the rest of the world. But that is what is being suggested.

What do you think paying providers well is? It's profit. Profit is not a bad thing. It is where the resources come from to fuel future advances. Profits are invested and used for growth and innovation.

Insurance companies do provide a service. As with any insurance, they spread the risk over a large population so when something bad happens the party that needs the money to deal with it has it available. Basically that is what the federal government will do with government provided health care. However, they will handle it badly and coverages will decline, as they have in medicare and medicaid, until most will have less health care available to them than they do today. Eventually no money will be available at all.

Most of the other countries are looking over their shoulder at us. It isn't working for them. Obviously you need to reread "The Wealth of Nations". You didn't understand it the first time.

Am I speaking to Glenn Beck?

Great. 1% of the population has access to great healthcare. So great that other nation's top 1% come here too.

As with any insurance, they spread the risk over a large population so when something bad happens the party that needs the money to deal with it has it available.

Theoretically that sounds great. However, that's not what is actually happening. How is it that 60 to 70% of those who go bankrupt do so in large part due to medical bills, and a majority of those people had health insurance at the time of their medical ailment? That's exactly the scenario health insurance is theoretically suppose to stop.

And if you truly understood 'Wealth of Nations', you'd understand that Capitalism hates free markets and free markets hate capitalism ;)

You can keep parroting this all you want, but the numbers and the situation are in direct contrast with your assertions.

1.5 million americans declare bankruptcy every year. Even if you just count families that is less Than 1.5% of the United States. If 62% of them are due to medical costs (the latest figure I could find) that means that less than 1% of the people in the United States have suffered a bankruptcy due to medical bills. I am not going to address the probable inaccuracies of that number, but it is still very small. Which means the problem is very small.

But even more importantly, since they are still alive and well enough to file then it appears they received the needed medical care. If they had medical insurance at the time of the ailment, then the real reason for the bankruptcy was due to inadequate disability insurance. I havent' head of any proposed remedy for that problem. So your argument doesn't make any sense.

I still maintain that you haven't understood Adam Smith and your new comment further proves it.

Obviously you've never had to use health insurance for anything more than sniffles and ass pimples. If you had, you would know that the system is set up to squeeze all the money they can out of you.

You can buy all the damn health and disability insurance you can afford, but when you actually need it they drop your ass like a nuclear hot potato and act like you are trying to defraud them by perpetrating heinous acts such as filing a claim.

Hey Skip33666, the only thing your article managed to accomplish is to provoke the smartest, most intellegent rebutals I've seen on the Newsvine lately- an example is jarrod-548247's #12 reply among others.

Speaking of tilted news reporting, be sure to ALWAYS mention FOX "NEWS" network as the undisputed king of biased news program, you'll then sound a lot more believable.

And, if it wasn't for Keith Olbermann and MSNBC we will have a permanent Republican Congress by now- do a little research if you want to know who made that insane proposal.
