President Obama, "selling" his "stimulus" plan: "There are shovel-ready projects in every state ready to go' shovels ready to hit the ground; shovels hitting the ground; shovels, shovels, shovels"--Okay, I am putting a lot of quotes together, but that is the point. You can do a montage of President Obama stressing how the "stimulus" was going to IMMEDIATELY put people to work on "infrastructure" projects--the same kind of projects he now says we still need 50 billion dollars for "infrastructure" projects.
Obama (now--to New York Times): 'There is not such thing as a shovel-ready project."
Yes, Obama--the outside observer--is saying that President Obama (the insider) LIED. Obama has done the same thing repeatedly--acting like he was not there in Washington when Washington went wrong. Obama did the same thing even in the 2008 campaign. It is NOT correct that Obama "came to Washington" to change the way things are done (which he still says). DEMOCRATS took control of Congress in January of 2007. Democrats had been in control of Congress for almost 22 years when the economy collapsed. Obama was PART of that majority and proposed nothing different from what the "insiders" in Congress (along with President Bush) were already doing (getting us in this mess--which Obama was part of). Not me. I disowned BOTH President Bush and the Democrats in 2006. I could say what Obama is saying. Obama can't--but he his. (Yes, in case you don't remember--or only pay attention to Obama speeches--Obama was elected to the Unit States Snate in 2004, meaning he was right there with other Democrats in Congress helping to drive the car into the ditch.)
