How do I know Sharon Angle won her debate with Harry Reid? No, it is not because my unalterable opinion is that Harry Reid is possibly the worse United States Senator in the history of the country (overall, including harm done). No, it is not because of conservative commentary. No, it is not because I watched the debate with my "heart" instead of my head---indeed, I did not watch it at all. I know Sharon Angle is better )pretty good, in fact), and how bad Harry Reid is. I have commented on Harry Reid for at least 5 years. I don't need to watch a debate.
Newsweek: Harry Reid was "wooden, inarticulate and shiftless". Washington Post: The debate was a "tie" (unimaginable that Angle was less than 100% better if the Washington Post called it a "tie") Harry Reid is the experienced one (way too experienced, as he has been in Washington forever, and right there driving the country into a ditch as MAJORITY LEADER (Democrat controlled Congress) since January of 2007). Sharon Angle--about whom Reid did an ad saying she drank "crazy juice") should not have been able to stay in any debate with Harry Reid. All she needed to do was show she belonged in the arena. She obviously did much more than that.
But what is the clincher? No Yahoo "News" (BOYCOTT YAHOO) feature story about how badly Angle did. No Associated Press story about how Angle made some horrible gaffes. No mainstream media gloating. No, MSNBC does not count. MSNBC would sy Angle was horrible if Reid had shown up with a whip and chain, and said: "Blehind me witch". Oh, I forgot. That is what MSNBC, CNN and the rest HAVE done with Christine O'Donnell.
It is what Sherlock Holmes said about "the dog who didn't bark": If you would expect the dog to bark, and it doesn't, that is more significant than if the dog had barked. Here, the mainstream media has not GLOATED over how Angle did, and how Reid did. Thus, we know Angle won.
And Angle did not have to win. It is not about who is the more polished politician. It never should have been, but this year it clearly is not. But when the "polished professional politician" can't even do well in a debate, it should be all over.
